Whitney Pennington
I grew up in Southwest Virginia. I decided to become an attorney to help serve this area and its people. My passion has always been family law. I enjoy helping clients through difficult times and guiding them through their trials with individualized attention. It was because of this passion I attended Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina where I majored in trial advocacy.
During my time in law school, I focused on family law and estate planning. In 2012, I graduated at the top of my class with honors and passed the North Carolina Bar. In early 2013, I passed the Virginia Bar. At this time, my active license is in Virginia only. Since that time, I have been in private practice as well as worked in other legal capacities.
In the first few years of my practice, I worked in a general practice firm where I grew as an attorney who litigated matters from real property, family law, to personal injury. After that time, I worked as a magistrate in Northern Virginia where I issued warrants for arrest, search warrants, emergency protective orders and emergency custody orders for mental health.

Bristol City, VA
Bristol is a city in the state of Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 17,835. It is surrounded on three sides by Washington County, Virginia, which is statistically integrated with the city. Around 1765, Evan Shelby first emerged in what is now the Bristol area. Shelby relocated his family to an area named Big Camp Meet in 1766.
According to legend, Cherokee Indians formerly inhabited the area, and the Indian village was named after the large number of deer and buffalo that gathered here to feast in the canebrakes. Shelby altered the site’s name to Sapling Grove (which would later be changed to Bristol). Shelby built a fort on a hill above what is now downtown Bristol in 1774. It was a vital resting point for notable names such as Daniel Boone and George Rogers Clark, as well as hundreds of pioneers ready to travel.
