“I enjoy helping clients through difficult times and guiding them through their trials with individualized attention.”

Whitney Pennington

I grew up in Southwest Virginia. I decided to become an attorney to help serve this area and its people. I attended Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina where I majored in trial advocacy.

During my time in law school, I focused on family law and estate planning. In 2012, I graduated at the top of my class with honors and passed the North Carolina Bar. In early 2013, I passed the Virginia Bar. At this time, my active license is in Virginia only. Since that time, I have been in private practice as well as worked in other legal capacities.

In the first few years of my practice, I worked in a general practice firm where I grew as an attorney who litigated matters from real property, family law, to personal injury. After that time, I worked as a magistrate in Northern Virginia where I issued warrants for arrest, search warrants, emergency protective orders and emergency custody orders for mental health.

Deeds

At the Pennington Law firm, we have experience in drafting quit claims, general warranty, and specialty warranty deeds. We prepare deeds to transfer property between spouses if the marital property is conveyed to a spouse in a divorce. We are able to prepare deeds of gift between parties who wish to convey property without exchanging money. Lastly, we prepare deeds to transfer a home to a trust which is set up for estate and wealth planning. Please note at this time, we do not offer title searches. We hope to add this service in the future for our clients.

Sale Contracts

When buying or selling a home it is always wise to have a contract that sets out the exact terms of the exchange, money to be received, title to be conveyed, conditions of sale, and much more. At the Pennington Law Firm, we have experience drafting contracts for the sale of land or real property.

Warrant in Debts

The Pennington Law Firm helps individuals with both recovering properties and with defending against a suit to reclaim property. These actions are called Warrant in Debts. We have successfully helped clients regain what is rightfully theirs and also protect people from claims that are unfounded.

Leases

Landlords and tenants alike need solid leases which lay out the terms to be followed. For example, can the tenant bring a dog into the home? What if a tenant wants to sublet the property? What actions can a tenant take without a landlord’s permission?

What are the responsibilities of each party? We’ve drafted leases that address these issues so that both parties are clear on expectations. We encourage you to have a lease if you are considering entering into any rental arrangement.
