Whitney Pennington

I grew up in Southwest Virginia. I decided to become an attorney to help serve this area and its people. My passion has always been family law. I enjoy helping clients through difficult times and guiding them through their trials with individualized attention. It was because of this passion I attended Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina where I majored in trial advocacy.

During my time in law school, I focused on family law and estate planning. In 2012, I graduated at the top of my class with honors and passed the North Carolina Bar. In early 2013, I passed the Virginia Bar. At this time, my active license is in Virginia only. Since that time, I have been in private practice as well as worked in other legal capacities.

In the first few years of my practice, I worked in a general practice firm where I grew as an attorney who litigated matters from real property, family law, to personal injury. After that time, I worked as a magistrate in Northern Virginia where I issued warrants for arrest, search warrants, emergency protective orders and emergency custody orders for mental health.

Marion is a town located in Smyth County, Virginia, and serves as the county seat. The overall Marion area is well-known for its scenic beauty. It is located in the Blue Ridge section of the Southern Appalachian mountains in Southwest Virginia. The town got its name based on Francis Marion, an American Revolutionary War officer.
